THE Tourism Noosa team has been busy preparing for the Noosa Tri team event, which kicks off on 29 October.
Star swimmer and Tourism Noosa business development co-ordinator Sarah Heap will start the team event, taking on a 1500-metre ocean swim as the first leg.
Sarah said she had been swimming every day in preparation for the event, which will be her first time competing in the Noosa Tri.
“I heard it’s a tough start with 200 swimmers kicking you in the face,” she said.
Tourism Noosa CEO Damien Massingham is tackling the longest leg of the marathon, cycling 40kms, but said he was busy preparing for the ride.
“I’ve done a lot of preparation. I got back on the bike two weeks ago,” he said.
But Damien isn’t a stranger to the Noosa Tri, competing in team events once before and twice as an individual competitor.
Team captain and Tourism Noosa marketing manager Louise Terry will be running 10kms to bring the team home.
“I love running,” she said. “Noosa National Park is my running spot and I do yoga at Sunshine Beach to prepare.”
This will be Louise’s eighth time competing in the Noosa Tri, competing the full marathon last year, and she’s hoping for cool conditions and a light sprinkle of rain just before her leg of the triathlon.
The Tourism Noosa team will be among thousands of expected competitors over the five day event.
